Albany Area Schools November 2026 Operating Levy Referendum
Since 1958, Albany Area Schools has upheld its mission to cultivate and nurture engaged critical thinkers who are lifelong learners. Today, 1,700 students across grades K-12 carry that mission forward through a tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and music.
However, after more than 20 years of rising costs, declining enrollment, and underfunding at the state and local levels, Albany Area Schools needs additional, stable funding to continue delivering quality education and programming for its students. We have already cut more than $1 million from our budget in the past year — and it is not enough.
To address these financial challenges, the district has put forward an investment plan, called Our Huskies, Our Future.
Albany Area Schools is asking residents to consider a $1,147 per pupil operating levy referendum this fall, which would generate approximately $1.98 million per year for 10 years. Residents will get the final say on November 3.
